History of Assman's Funeral Chapel
In 1936 Harold Assman founded Assman’s Funeral Chapel in Prince George, B.C. He operated his funeral home from a two room house on George Street. In 1952 Mr. Assman built a new funeral home complete with a large chapel, family room and living quarters upstairs. Mr. Harold saw the need of establishing a crematorium in the city and so in 1968 he opened Fraserview Crematorium which provided cremation services to the families of Prince George and the surrounding areas.

In 1972 Harold sold Assman’s Funeral Chapel to Herbert Clayton and Brett Johnston but continued to operate the Crematorium until his retirement in 1978. Harold Assman established a foundation of providing the highest standard of service to our families, this standard of service and commitment to our community by Assmans’ Funeral Chapel continues today under the management of Glenn Johnston and his staff.
