In 1954, local funeral director Murray Cooke identified the need for a funeral home on Hamilton Mountain. He subsequently built and operated the Cresmount Funeral Home in conjunction with an ambulance service for many years.
In 1974, Mr. Cooke retired and sold the funeral business to William Markey. Upon Mr. Markey’s death in 1978, his wife, Mary, and son, Chris, continued the operation of the funeral home.
Renovations in 1976 had added a large chapel. By 1988, the building was undergoing renovations again to provide families with the best facilities, service and personnel. We have created a warm, friendly appearance to our funeral home, both inside and out, so that the many families we serve will feel as comfortable as if they were in their own home. The facilities are completely accessible to the disabled and include onsite parking. In addition, our full-time bereavement counselor is available to all the families we serve, at no additional cost.
In 1994, Cresmount was purchased by an affiliate of Service Corporation International and today is a proud member of the Dignity Memorial® network of funeral, cremation and cemetery service providers. When you choose to rely on us for your funeral service need, you receive the benefit of personalized, local experience with the strength and stability of a well-established, international organization.
