History of Henderson's Fraser Valley Funeral Home
Henderson’s Funeral Home was started in Chilliwack, BC in 1890 by J.C. Henderson. In 1919 R.J. Henderson (no relation) purchased Henderson’s Funeral Home. During tough economic times, funerals were paid for in produce, livestock, wood and labour for services supplied. A horse drawn hearse was first used until 1924 when a Model T Ford hearse was purchased.

R.J.’s eldest son, Harvey, opened the Abbotsford Henderson’s in 1935. There was also a Mission Henderson’s location which was purchased in 1945 and sold in 1952. The Langley Henderson’s location followed in 1955.

Henderson’s Fraser Valley Funeral Home continues to be honoured, and feels very privileged, to have been serving the families of the Fraser Valley for the past 74 years. The population of the area is now 130,000 as Abbotsford continues to be one of the fastest growing cities in B.C.

There are now three Henderson’s locations providing service in Abbotsford, Chilliwack and Langley. Even though time has passed and Henderson’s has seen many changes, we are still dedicated to providing service beyond expectation to all of our families.
