History of Inverness Funeral Home
A funeral home was first established in Inverness in the former Canada Post building by the late Rod A. MacDonald in 1969. It relocated to the MacMillan homestead on MacIsaac Street in the early 1970s and soon afterward to its present location at 45 MacIssac Street, the site of the former Holy Family Convent High School.

A graduate of the high school and a lifelong Inverness resident, Bernie MacDougall began his funeral career with Rod MacDonald in 1975. On February 1, 1982, the Rod MacDonald Funeral Home was purchased by Sydney funeral director Leo J. Curry and it was renamed the Inverness Funeral Home.

For more than three decades, the funeral home has offered a high standard service to the families of Inverness, Mabou, Margaree, Port Hood, Judique and the many picturesque and historic communities throughout western Cape Breton.

Today, we are a proud member of the Dignity Memorial® network of funeral, cremation and cemetery service providers, and we are dedicated to continuing the Inverness tradition of service excellence by providing high quality care, compassion and guidance to all families we serve.
