Gisele Elkhal was born in Pointe-à-Pitre, Guadeloupe to Abraham and Josephine
Al-Khal on December 27, 1952. She grew up with 10 siblings in a loving home with
dedicated, caring parents. Gisele moved to Portland, Oregon in 1972 when she
married Joseph Elkhal, she studied cosmetology and began her family. Gisele was a
loving mother to Steven, Gary & Omar and a loving mother-in-law to Roula &
Monica. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, Zayna, Joey, Anna, Luke &
Ethan. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters: Elsie Doumith, Ronald Alkhal,
Andre, Jacques, Wady, Daniel Khal, Claudette Sfarti, and Evelyne Vivies, as well as a
large number of nieces and nephews all worldwide.
Gisele’s enthusiasm for life was contagious; she was always ready to go anywhere
at a moment's notice and loved cooking for others. Gisele and her younger son
Omar ran a crepe cafe together, “Parkplace Cafe”. Gisele’s love of cooking, vibrant
personality, and French Guadeloupe-inspired crepes made the mother-son cafe
special. Gisele had many hobbies and enjoyed playing a round of golf with her sons,
grandsons, and friends. Although she left the island of Guadeloupe, the island never
left her; she enjoyed spending as much time in the sun and on a beach as she could,
a true island girl! She traveled to many countries and experienced new cultures and
languages, including living in Saudi Arabia for 6 years. Gisele loved spending time
with her grandkids the most; special mornings with Teta making pancakes and
French toast were always cherished. She was beautiful, elegant, funny, and full of
life. May her memory be eternal and may she Rest in Peace with the angels in the
Kingdom of Heaven for all eternity.
The family would like to thank everyone from all over the world who sent their
support in the form of prayers, thoughts, calls, and messages. It is very much
appreciated.

A beautiful life
That came to an end,
She died as she lived,
Everyone’s friend.
In our hearts,
A memory
Will always be kept,
Of one we loved,
And will never forget.
