History of Victory Memorial Park Funeral Centre
In 1955 The Veterans Memorial Park opened under the Veterans Memorial Trust Association. The chief purpose was to provide a Field of honour for veterans and their immediate family members. The first burial took place in March 1959.

Soon the landmark that remains to this day was erected – a 65-foot Military Cross, with two Howitzer guns placed on either side of the cross. Later as the cemetery became public the two guns were donated to the City of White Rock and the Vancouver Armoury.

In 1973 five local respected funeral directors, purchased the cemetery renaming it Victory Memorial Park. A crematorium and adjoining chapel were built in 1972 to service the needs of the lower mainland. In 1984 Victory Memorial Park Cemetery became part of the Loewen Group chain of Funeral Homes and Cemeteries. The property was later sold to an affiliate of Service Corporation International.

Between 1984 and the present, many improvements have been added: Memory Glen, the first cremation garden, was constructed with a large pond and a rectangular niche wall; sections were opened for Beth Tikvah Jewish Congregation from Richmond, St. Vartan’s Armenian Church, the Canadian Hussaini Association and the BC Muslim Association; double depth lawn crypts were constructed; a Cremation Garden, Brookside, was added in the natural setting behind Memory Glen with streams, ponds and two rectangular niches; plots for both traditional burial and cremation burial were created in Terry Winter , Mountain View Gardens, Glenhaven Gardens, Cascade Gardens, Plateau of Eternal Peace and Harmony Garden; nine niche walls were constructed including Memory Glen, Thousand Flowers and Brookside; and private and bench Estates were added.
